This 5 – day – trekking to Ha Giang is one of our low budget journeys designed for those seeking for an off the beaten path adventure in Vietnam. To get to Ha Giang, you can first catch public transport from Hanoi to Hoang Su Phi. Following the gravel narrow roads here, you will move from one village to another; travel through several hill tribe villages and meet up with people of different ethnic groups including Tay, Dao. Staying with local family or homestay would offer you an opportunity to experience the local daily life.

Public bus to Tan Quan, Ha Giang departs at 8:30 at My Dinh Station and will arrive at Ha Giang at around 15:00 (about 6 hour on bus). Arriving at Tan Quan, you will be meeting up with our local team who is going to lead you to Hoang Su Phi. The surrounding scenes here are fascinated with stunning valleys and terraced fields. 
In Hoang Su Phi, you will check in a hotel. Overnight at a local hotel in Hoang Su Phi.

After having breakfast, we check out from hotel and leave Hoang Su Phi town to start a day of trekking the Northwest side of Tay Con Linh Range of Mountains. The first 2 hours will be spent for trekking along an uphill soil path, from there you will have the panorama of Hoang Su Phi town and part of Dane Ven Valley surrounded with high cliffs of mountains. We then downhill for an hour and arrive at a small village of Nung ethnic group. Here you have chances to visit local houses, explore the village, meet with the locals, etc. 

Lunch is served at a local house.

The afternoon journey along Tun Sang Valley seems to be easier. You will be getting through several hamlets of the H’mong, dropping in some houses to get to know something about their way of life.

From 16:30, when you arrive at the home - stay to the end of the day is your leisure time. Overnight at a local house in Tun Sang Valley.

You will be saying goodbye to your host family at 8:30 after having breakfast to start your 3rd day trekking of getting over Tun Sang Pass, going from northwest side to southeast side of Tay Con Linh – the second highest mountain range in Vietnam. After half an hour of downhill, crossing streams, you then trek uphill for the whole morning to the top of the pass.  The trail winds its way along the stream, passing through a village of the Dzao, H’mong and La Chi before reaching the height of 1000m which offers you the amazing overview of Tay Con Linh Mountain, and Tun Sang Valley. You will also see some of the prettiest terraced fields.

After having lunch, you follow a narrow trail sneaking on steep mountain side, getting through tea plantations and forests. It takes you around one hour to get to a small village of the Hmong where you can take a discovery and have a short rest with local tea. The next two hours are for trekking along a trail to move to Chun Sun Village of Tay and Dao people where you can take a bath in the nearby hot mineral spring. Before checking in a home-stay at around 7:00, you can pay visit to some local home there in the village. 

Dinner served at about 19.30 with home-cooked dishes. You then overnight in the house of a Tay family.

After having breakfast, our journey starts from the home-stay at 8:30, following a winding earthen trail along steep mountain for an hour to reach a village of the Black Dao. We then will be sneaking on steep mountain side, terraced fields and forests for almost 2 hours to arrive at another village where you have a stop for lunch. 

The trek continues by 2 hours downhill to a flat valley which is the home of Tay people. The locals here grow wet rice as their main staple and live in spacious wooden of a prosperous village. You then have 1 hour walking along large and plain village road before getting on car back to Cho Vat where you catch night bus to return to Hanoi. Overnight on sleeping bus.

In the early morning of 5th day, you will arrive in Hanoi. End of 5 days trekking and revealing into Ha Giang.
